Here we go, never thought I’d be doing this, but “they” (our communications couple) said it was a good idea. I tend to believe people I like and trust so I’m gonna give it a shot. I don’t really plan to make this a weekly dive into the depths of some obscure theological anomaly, but rather offer an occasional post of a more practical nature – usually relating to what it means to follow Jesus today. Through this blog, I hope to share thoughts, experiences, expectations, and maybe even a humorous anecdote from time to time. If there is something in particular you think would make a good blog post, email it to me at firstname.lastname@example.org – I may not agree, but it’s worth a shot.
Here’s the thing I hope you understand as I get started – I don’t claim to be an expert and I don’t think I have all the answers. If everyone did everything I thought they should, things probably wouldn’t go so well – just being honest here. So often in this life we assume we need to be the pro, have all the answers and appear to have our “stuff” together. In reality, God calls us to more than we can handle, we face challenges we could never overcome on our own, and at times feel preoccupied with the weight of understanding what all this means.
While this reality might freak out some, it brings a perspective for living to me. If we could do all this on our own, we wouldn’t need a Savior. So stop it. Stop trying to figure it out on your own, stop trying to manage all the variables. Admit it. Admit it when you feel overwhelmed, admit it when you need some help. God has not left you to do it all on your own. He is with you. He sent you a Savior – His Son, Jesus. He will not leave you, or forsake you!
